IT WAS A QUIET "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY" IN ISOLATION 2020...

Saturday, 21st of March...
My initial plan was to travel to work by car. Perfect because there is no congestion charge on a Sunday if I was to get a member of my family to drive me to the centre of London where I worked at the Savoy. Public transport was limited and now that paranoia had kicked in because of Covid it was better to avoid using public transport.
Sunday, 22nd of March...
This morning I got a call informing, I was no longer needed to come to work. I'm not surprised, judging how fast Covid had an effect on travel and the hospitality business.
My message to everyone,
STAY SAFE INDOORS.
Until yesterday my thoughts were all over the place, still reflecting on so many events which led to the closure of my work and how Covid had put a lot of fear in all of us. At first when I heard about it, it was just a small distant whisper I thought, "Don't think it will happen here in the UK, but it did.
Thankfully last week in between work schedulle, I just about managed to stock up with food in case of a lockdown.
Inevitably judging by the news, it will happen. For us living in the UK, it finally happened on Mothering Sunday. It was our first day stuck indoors, just me and the children. It was a quiet day at home enjoying family time together keeping active around. This was only the beginning staying put in one place. It felt so out of character to think how my routine had switched in such a different way.
I BECAME A STAY AT HOME MUM
I needed to think of ways how to find ways to have space in between spending time with my kids, when life at home can become to much. It's finding ways how to keep them busy while they're at home. Already Tim Benjamin was constantly under my feet, at times silly, shouting continuously into my ear. It was his way of getting my attention.
"Tim. Stop it. Your to loud"
"Love you Mummy."
"Love you too... What do you want to do with mummy?"
Tim ignores question. Moves around and swings his arms playfully in the air.
"I love you Mummy"
"I know you do. That's because mummy around. No more going to work. For now."
I could see he was over excited. So much he didn't know what to do with himself, as he playfully shadowed me behind my back while I checked the latest message from work.
"Tim! Stop Shouting in my ear. Let me check this quick."
"Mummy is Daddy coming?"
"You know he isn't... Are you happy Mummy's around?"
"Course I am."
The thought of his Dad not being around, saddened Tim. No more visits for a while. This is why he was restless and upset later as I put him to bed. This was a huge sudden change Tim slowly had to adjust. "Your Dad has gone into total isolation because he has health issues and lives a long way"
After I rested for a bit, I thought of a task Tim would be happy to do. This was a task we could do together. It would keep him occupied for at least an hour helping Mummy. I put him in charge of pressure washing our decking.
It was a beautiful cold sunny afternoon as we both slowly emerged outside and began with gardening. It looked unkept after a harsh winter. Decking definitely needed sorting. We both enjoyed our time together busying ourselves getting our garden looking nice again. The girls eventually took over later helping Mummy in the kitchen. What a day πππ³πΊπ»ππΏπΈπ
To my readers,
I hope you found this short blog post inspiring. It's all about memories. The big question we'll be asking ourselves... What sort of tasks were you thinking of doing with your children while at home? For us on Mothering Sunday, we decided to pressure wash our deking with the idea of spending more time in the garden in the next coming weeks. I managed to do a bit of tidying up and gardening. This was the beginning to ponder with more ideas, what else needs to be done around the house, now my thoughts was totally focus with family and home.
